My grandfather (Mac MacLeod) built his cottage on the Hiawatha First Nation lands in 1951. My memories of time spent there are the most precious of my life and I have come back to visit many times as Hiawatha still lives in my heart. I send my love and support to you as you once again mourn the tragedies inflicted upon your people. I am forever grateful to have spent the summers of the first 10 years of my life on Hiawatha and recognize that we settlers and our country owe a great deal to your people in restitution and reconciliation. In honour of the lives of these precious children, may we find a way forward.
